    Hello,

I can publish posts with pictures perfectly to a wordpress 2.02 blog through windows live writer. I've just installed a new wordpress 2.04 blog and tried to do the same but I get the following error:

'The following images cannot be published because the weblog does not support image publishing'

Has anyone else come across this error? How did you solve it.

I find this quite strange because it was fine with wordpress 2.02.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I'd look at file permissions on the wp-content/ directory to begin with. Ensure that the web server's process can write to it.

That'd be my guess at any rate.

Yup, that's probably it. Had that with a client's blog just yesterday. I gave it an uploads folder, and set the permissions on that folder only to 777 which fixed the problem. I was hoping to be able to set it back to 666, but it didn't seem to want to work that way unfortunately.

The client seems to be okay with having the folder that loose, though I've warned her that it's not a good idea. I guess uploading boatloads of graphics is more important to her than closing a security hole. Not going to be my problem if she gets hacked; she signed off on a contract clause to that effect.

Ah! That will be it! Thanks for your help. I didn't think of that. The site was previously on a web server I controlled. It is now on another one that I don't have full control over. I've used the FTP function instead.

    Thanks again,
    Matt Midgley

I had the same problem with v2.2.2 and v1.0 (12.0.1183.516) of Windows Live Write Beta when I tried to add an image to a page. I tried the suggestion above related to permissions to no avail. Then I decided to try adding an image to a post (since I know I had done that before) and wa-la, it worked. Looks like uploading images for pages is busted in WLW. Bummer.

I just went up to the WLW feedback forum, however, and it looks like they are aware of it and it might already be fixed in the version that will be coming out soon. Sweet!

Perhaps in some scenarios. Fortunately, mine is still working!
