• I can not praise the Lazyest Gallery enough. Come payday I’m definitely going to pay something to contribute to its continued support and development.

I had despaired of finding a WP native gallery that could handle my, eventually, more than 1,000 images.

I had fallen back on using Gallery2 (not Gallery3 – ugh!!) to host my images. It looked pretty good in a wrapper on my WP site, but it is complicated to configure and maintain, and I was always afraid that Menalto would eventually stop supporting it in preference to developing Gallery3, the newest incarnation of Gallery2.

I don’t know how Macbrink learned how to automate so much of what has to be done by hand in the powerful, but labor intensive Gallery2.

    But I’m glad he did.

My experience with NextGEN Gallery was disastrous — it just fell apart as I worked with it.

Lazyest Gallery is the best. You don’t even need to use an “uploader” to create your galleries. Just FTP your files or Zip them before FTPing, and (if your cpanel works like mine), unzip them on your server.

Thank you Macbrink! Keep it simple – keep it working.

    you’re welcome 😉

Dokan216, I’m really pleased to read your recommendation here!

I run a camera club website and up till now have used NextGen Gallery. All the users can upload their own photos to their own albums, BUT … They are desperate to be able to comment on each other’s photos and as far as I can see, NextGen doesn’t support commenting. It also has a nasty backend for users to upload and maintain their albums.

So I then installed Gallery3 which, to be fair, looks a pretty good system. It’s very easy to use. But it doesn’t play nicely with WordPress yet and I was really struggling to make my Gallery3 application and my wordpress website talk to each other. I then tried Gallery2 but UGH, it’s so convoluted!

So … Can anyone please tell me if Lazyest Gallery would be good for a club website where different people need to upload their own pictures to their own albums and also leave comments on them all?

    Many thanks in advance!

In Lazyest Gallery, the Administrator can assign folders to users.
The folder owner or administrator can set the capability level needed to view/comment the folder and images.
