Cannot Login and Cannot Reset Password
-
I’m trying to reset the password for a user account using the “Lost your password?” link. When I click on the reset password link provided in the email, I get the message “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.”
This appears to be a very old problem, so not sure why I would be experiencing it now on this latest and greatest release of WordPress.
I’m also running latest version of Chrome on Windows 7 64 bit, and using the Suffusion Theme with BuddyPress and the Suffusion BuddyPress Pack. Tried in IE and same result. I’m running 11 plugins and deactivating them one by one didn’t work.
I’ve cleared caches and cookies, etc…I searched these forums and did not find a solution, mostly closed topics that remained unresolved. I’m also unable to create groups in BuddyPress and not sure if the two are related.
I read the following and nothing in them worked for me (and I did not feel comfortable overwriting new 3.4.1 files with old files from years ago, but I did it and got a fatal error which a restore had to fix):

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/lost-password-link-in-email-not-valid-key-fix-does-not-work?replies=28Found other threads on other sites, with no practical resolution and all old, old, old.
I tried regenerating keys using the key generator found here: https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/ and updating my wp-config.php file with the new keys, which also didn’t work.
Is messing about in the SQL database the only workaround for this? Not a good solution if you’re not a techie, but will do it if that’s the only thing to do.
Any help on this would be great.
