• I’m trying to edit some php files, but can’t access them. I read other forum posts regarding the issue, and it seems some people have an “Editor” option under Appearance. Anyone know how I can get to that?

    Thanks!

Oh, bummer. It looks like I’m on wordpress.com. Can the site I have now be exported/imported to the .org?

    Yup.

Make sure you read up on wordpress.org first (starting with that link I provided), so you truly understand what it means to be running your own site!

You would set up WordPress on a host (Often when you buy your hosting, many hosts offer WP installation)

Some things are different (themes do not match identically, different functionality, etc) bewteen .com and .org, but that can often be fixed with a plugin

Thank you so much for all your quick and helpful knowledge! I had no idea there were two WordPress options. Sounds like I can a little more customizing in the .org version.

The sky is the limit with .org, quite literally.

Since it’s on your own server, and you have full control over all files, your only limit really is imagination (and ability to write code, or pay someone to do it)

It is more responsibility of course, things can (and do) go wrong…. which we all have to learn to fix
