• I’ve been reading a lot about “web 2.0.” Is WordPress a Web 2.0 application? It has many aspects, rss, community, blogging, sharing, etc. that makes it look like a Web 2.0 website.

    Thanks for thoughts.

  • Yeah, what you said. And all that ajax thingy in the admin panels, definitely wordpress is a web 2.0 application. What’s the point of this question anyway?

No, “Web 2.0” is a buzzword. WordPress is real.

    According to Wikipedia:

“O’Reilly Media coined the phrase Web 2.0 in 2004 to refer to a supposed second-generation of Internet-based services that let people collaborate and share information online in perceived new ways — such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies.

So yes, WP == Web 2.0 and therefore both might qualify as a buzz phrase.

Many people think of Web2.0 as the use of AJAX, which WordPress uses and there are many plugins that also utilize AJAX. Basically, when I see some company promoting their Web2.0 features, I think they are morons since most of the web is and has always been Web 2.0 anyway…

Warning: AJAX can unveil security issues when you are not accurately validating your requests…
