Multiple blogs from one install

Is it possible to run multiple blogs from one install of WordPress?
For example, if I install WordPress in http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress, can I run 3 seperate blogs with a naming scheme something like…
http://www.mydomain.com/user1blog
http://www.mydomain.com/user2blog
http://www.mydomain.com/user3blogOr, do I need to install WordPress in each user’s directory?
