[resolved] UTW Tags Not Pulling Tags (7 posts)

I've recently discovered that the tags on my site aren't working anymore. I've used UTW for a few months without a problem (once I got it up and running, anyway) until this. I'm not sure what caused the problem so I installed the latest version of UTW, unfortunately, to no avail.

What happens is that when I click on a tag, it doesn't pull that tag's posts; instead, it simply shows all posts.

As I write new posts from the WP backend, I notice this error (usually right below Suggest Tags, but sometimes above that part, though always below the writing box):

Can't load wp-config.php (located in "/home/deanish/public_html/wp-content"). You must put this plugin in your plugins directory ("/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/").

    (see a screenshot - http://deanish.com/utw-error.png)

I've never seen that error before, but I suspect it may be the culprit of all my woes. Notice it says "/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/" - that's not where my installation is (it's actually on my root).

I've recently switched themes, but when I switched back to my old one it still didn't work. Any ideas? Thx all~

I've disabled all of my plugins (aside from UTW) and have determined that it's not a plugin incompatibility issue. I've discovered that UTW actually does work... kinda. Go to http://deanish.com/index.php?tag=blog-tools - you can see that UTW still works, pulling the posts with the "blog-tools" tag, but it breaks the theme for some reason. Now go to http://deanish.com/tag/blog-tools (the "pretty" URL, which is set to function properly on my backend) - it just ignores the tag and pulls all posts.

I don't know if this is a theme issue or not, but any help would be much appreciated. :)

You're using an incompatible permalink configuration (just "%postname%") . Not all permalink possibilities lend themselves well to other plugin's permalink insertion methods. This is a known issue, without a known cure.

My permalinks are set to /%category%/%postname%/ - at least, that's what it shows in my backend...

I realize there's an issue with just /%postname%/ which is why I know not to use that structure. ;)

Where are you seeing that my permalinks are set to /%postname%/? How can I fix it? As far as I can tell, they're set up the way I described above - see http://deanish.com/posts/apology-accepted-a-spam-story/

My mistake, you are using category as well, I missed that.

Nevertheless, that is still incompatible with the pretty "tag" permalinks. I'm not entirely certain why, exactly, nevertheless it's pretty well documented on these forums.

Thanks for your replies, Otto. I worked with Nathan Dove on a workaround for that (but, apparently, the header still gets 404'd even though the content is correct): http://wordpress.org/support/topic/65370

What's weird is that it was working fine until just the last few days.

I'm willing to change my permalinks at this point, so how can I fix it? What exactly is it that my permalinks need but don't have?

I ust send a reply on this topic to notice to whome who are not able to retrieve their tags because of the lenght of their post, you can add a small patch described here : http://my.opera.com/Toucouleur/blog/ultimate-tag-warrior-droit-internet

If you have Request-URI Too Long : The server will not process the request because its request URI is too large.

    It's the solution for you
