    Hi, So I was making a new site working off the IP address and I just made the site live the other day with the domain name. When I did this, the home page had the domain name as the URL and the other pages had the IP address. I used your plug-in, putting the IP address in the old address field (no http or www second time; the first time I used http) and the domain name in the new address field. Now all my pages have the IP address – even the home page which previous had the domain name as the URL. (my IP address has 11 numbers, fyi.)

    It’s weird. As a first step, have you tried changing the site URL?

    Hi. No, I can try that. I started out being given very elaborate instructions – the part in this same Codex info about changing the functions.php code in Filezilla. The PlugIn sounded like the answer to my prayers ! But I was also told to do things in very specific order and, in that scenario, changing the site URL was supposed to be done last. In rereading this Codex info, I’d say my site falls under ‘broken site’ not moving the site. So I shouldn’t have to do all that code changing anyway. … I think? Sigh. I have another site with a lot of info on it that I have to do this with … so I’m hoping the PlugIn works here. will try this and report back. Thanks.

    One other q, I have another site that I have to do the same thing with. The site imported 800 posts into wp.org from a wp.com site. The new site was designed also with the IP address. Obviously there is A LOT more material that will be changed from the IP address to the domain name than with the one I just did.

    This one (I just did) was fairly easy. Do you think that there might be anything additionally tricky with a site with so much material, images, etc.?

    Do you think that there might be anything additionally tricky with a site with so much material, images, etc.?

    I don’t think so. When you can successfully import 800 posts without any errors, this process (of converting the URL) should go through fine too. Anyway, please remember to take a backup, before doing any important change on any WordPress blog.
