• I’m an assistant for a blog, so I don’t have all of the technical information to share. I’ll try to do my best.

About two months ago I was given a huge project to include Genesis Featured Widget Amplified as a visual post index. There are a TON of widget sections now, and ever since then, the widget settings section has had difficulty loading. The page doesn’t load completely, leaving everything that has loaded inaccessible. I have to sit here sometimes for hours hitting refresh until it finally loads all the way. However today, I’ve been trying to load the page for almost 6 hours and I’m fed up.

There have been other posts that seem like they’re having the same issue, but the details aren’t the same, so I have no clue what’s going on. It seems like it’s just an issue of being too many things to load, but maybe there’s a way to fix that? Any help appreciated.

  • Try asking the site’s admin to increase the memory available to PHP.

Thanks for the response. I contacted the site admin and she told me she couldn’t do it because the servers would have to be upgraded first. Is there any other way to force the page to continue to load?

You could try deactivating some or all of your plugins.

If I deactivate the plugin that is causing the problem, and then reactivate after I make the changes I need, will all of the stuff that was there remain untouched? Or does everything have to be reloaded from a backup? Not sure if that makes sense…

I’m also having the problem with my Widgets page not loading. I was just in there this morning, then only a few minutes later I tried going in there again and it just won’t load.

I noticed it after I had installed a new plugin. I already uninstalled it, but I still cannot access it. I’m afraid to deactivate my other plugins because I don’t know if I’ll have to redo all the work I did with those widgets, which is a lot of work.

I’ve tried increasing the memory, but I don’t think that’s it. Any other ideas?

Ok, I went ahead and deactivated all of my plugins and reset the plugins folder, and I’m still having the problem.

I’ve contacted my host about the memory thing, but since I don’t get any kind of error message (the page just doesn’t load), I don’t know if that’s the problem. I’d love to hear any other ideas, so I can be ready in case the memory thing doesn’t solve the problem.
