Possible to create new widget in Appearance > Menus

    Is it possible to create a new bespoke widget under the Appearance > Mensu screen.

    I have a theme I’m working on an I’d like to be able to include icons and a custom category list to the menu.

    I’ve created a custom walker for wp_nav_menu and using the custom links box hard coded the walker to look for special keywords in the url and label fields. This works perfectly, but I’d like to have a new widget with proper options in that will function just like the custom links, but with additional custom options.
