Hi, it is impossible with just uninstall of User Role Editor. Plugin edits roles in place, right there, where WordPress stores them. Before very first roles update URE makes full backup of WordPress roles set.
So you may try to restore roles state on the moment you started using URE plugin. Do not forget to make backup of WordPress database before applying this operation. Just on case if something will go wrong.

Same problem. Uninstalled and the custom role’s remain. Not quite sure I understood your directions above.

    Help appreciated. Thanks.

User Role Editor doesn’t make any changes to roles during its uninstall process. All changes you make to the roles with URE help are permanent.
You have 2 ways to remove custom created roles before uninstall User Role Editor:
    1) Click ‘Reset’ button at plugin page. This function will revert roles back to the moment you save changes to its with URE help very 1st time. Be careful. Some plugins creates custom roles automatically. If you use such plugin, and it was installed after URE plugin, you can break that plugin.
    2) URE has ‘Delete Role’ feature. Check if custom created role not assigned to any user and delete it manually with URE help.
