• My blog is http://www.debutanteclothing.com

The theme is custom and for some reason, not sure if the designer did this or what, but I cannot use the update automatically button. So I followed the directions and updated manually.

Well now I get this error…

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_front_page_template() in /usr/www/users/debutant/dc/wp-includes/template-loader.php on line 26

I am going to have my host reinstall my back up, but I don’t get what I did wrong. Ready to pay someone to show me how to update manually.

Oh I am also getting this when I try to log onto my admin site:

Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Theme’ not found in /usr/www/users/debutant/dc/wp-includes/theme.php on line 106

Were you updating your theme, or your wordpress installation?

What version of WordPress were you using prior to the update?

    Hi Josh.
Was trying to update my installation. I was on 3.1.something

Okay. Do you know how to use FTP or your hosts CPanel to gain access to your file directories?

    (@debutante)

    yes

    Okay.

    1. Download a fresh copy of WP 3.4 and extract to your desktop.
    2. On your website, navigate to your root installation folder.
    3. You should see a folder called wp-includes.

Try replacing the contents of that folder with the ones from what you downloaded in step 1 above.

First Disable Plugins which are active.

Automatic Update works only for WP 2.7 and above.

For Automatic Update to work, at least two criteria must be satisfied:
    (a) file ownership
    (b) file permissions

    Ok, tried that. Still nothing.

Oh and it turns out my backup was useless because I backed up the wrong directory.

Well my host was nice enough to give me their backup. I see my theme but where there should be content, I get include errors. I’m just going to have them install the back up and try again.
