Error establishing a database connection

Hi,
Tried to install WP and got this when I ran the installation.
Did I do anything wrong in the wp-config.php file?

define(‘DATABASE’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database
define(‘USERNAME’, ‘username’); // Your MySQL username
define(‘PASSWORD’, ‘password’); // …and password
===

Those in caps are the fields I entered my own values.
I don’t have to change anything else, do I?

Why isn’t it working?
