Recently updated to 2.8.2 version. I might be wrong but just wanted to clear one thing.
My settings are set as Slimstat should not track “bots and crawlers”

However after update, there has been considerable increase in my pageviews. Before that slimstat data and google analytics data were more or less the same. Now Slimstat data shows far more pageviews than google analytics.

Furthermore i tried to analyze that myself by counting and as it seems now slimstat does count bots n crawlers as “pageviews” even when i have turned it “OFF”

The tracking engine hasn’t changed much between 2.8 and 2.8.2, if we don’t consider the new Javascript used to track the events happening on your pages. But some parts have been rewritten, so it could definitely be a bug somewhere. I’ll take a look at the code and see if there’s anything that needs to be fixed 🙂

    Thanks for pointing this out.

You were right: the ‘new’ engine is easier to trick into thinking a bot is a regular user. Some bots present themselves as using IE 6 on Windows, but they are not humans. I’ll change the engine so that it doesn’t “trust” what these bots say 😉

Thanks for pointing this out. A vote for my plugin would be a nice way to say thank you!

Hi there, would you be interested in testing a tweak I added to the tracking engine to try and see if it’s more accurate in identifying bots and crawlers? If so, please contact me at

and I’ll send you the new version.

    Cheers,
