[Plugin: Participants Database] Two databases or forked or separated by record type/category

I am running this plugin on an intranet. I’d like to have two instances of the database or at least a way to select according to record type and have that display on the front end. Basically I want a directory of staff only, then another with all other contacts (suppliers, clients, etc.). Is there any way to accomplish this? The public will not be able to see the site.
