    Hello,

First and foremost, I absolutely love this plugin…by far the greatest table plugin for WordPress.

I have a site that I’m working on for a small deli. On the home page, there is a one column, one row table (a box, so to speak) which will display their daily specials. I have included a background in the CSS to make it appear as if the specials are being written on a chalkboard. My question is…is there a way to link the entire 1×1 table to another page on the site (i.e. the menu page)? I could use a text link but I’m concerned that it really distorts the effect I was going for, and linking the entire cell would be the best option for me. I’m not entirely sure it’s even possible, but figured I would ask.

Thank you in advance, and keep up the great work!

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, this is not really possible, as table cells simply are not links…
I could imagine a work around, but that would involve JavaScript and it’s kind of ugly actually.
Another idea could be to add some padding via CSS (which would also be clickable). For that, can you maybe post the URL to the page with this table? I can then check if this approach could work.

Additionally, I have a question: Why are you using a table to create a single box? I don’t really see the point for this. Is this because it is the easiest way for your client to update those daily specials?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi Tobias, thank you for the reply…about what I figured with the linking and making things ugly with JavaScript, just not worth it. I was hoping I missed something in school.

With regards to the cell, I agree…it does seem kind of pointless, but for the sake of ease on the client side, this was the best option at the time. All of the formatting is done for them within the CSS, all they have to do is type, enter, type, save. They don’t have a lot of time to make updates, so this was a quick and simple solution for them.

    Hi,

yes, the JS solution would be ugly, but as I said there might be another option, just with CSS. I would just have to take a look at the page…

And thanks for the explanation. While the one-cell table is not really nice in a “HTML state of the art” way, it’s fine to use of course, especially if it helps your clients.

    Regards,
    Tobias
