Permalink problem – my pages not found – blog posts okay

I’ve been battling with a problem on a multilanguage site using WPML. For some reason, my pages produce and 404 error, yet my blog posts are okay.

We’ve reset the .htaccess file and the permalinks many times. We’ve even started from scratch on two completely new installs on different servers and the same problem creeps in shortly after installing the plugin. Then even after the plugin is deleted, it still persists.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as it’s been a week trying to figure this out with no advance.
