Need to Format Excerpt

Is it possible to minimally format an excerpt that appears in the “Maximize Your Workouts” box? Nothing extravagant, but it would nice, for example, to have the contact info on one line, rather than split into two.
On the events.php page, the client has put in spaces and carriage returns that seem to be stripped out of the excerpt.
