News theme with outside of page advertising?

I’m probably phrasing this wrong, but I’m looking for a news theme that I can over-skin in a way. I currently use a gabfire theme with http://www.fandompost.com, but I want to swap out the side green areas with advertising, similar to what http://www.animenewsnetwork.com does.

Any suggestions?
