• I am confused about what the WP Supersized plugin can do exactly. The description says:

Cycles Images/backgrounds via slideshow with transitions and preloading (use it as background or as slideshow)

So to me, the phrase “use it as background or as slideshow” implies that a gallery can be shown as a full-screen slideshow, covering the website under it. Do I have this wrong? If so, I think the description should read “use it as a static background image or as a slideshow playing in the background of your blog”.

I use NextGen Gallery and my posts contain thumbnails for galleries. I want a visitor to be able to click on a thumb and have it launch a full screen slideshow, just like PicLens does (the option that comes with NextGen). But PicLens does not handle HTML captions so that’s what brought me to WP Supersized. Right now all I can make it do is show a slideshow in the background behind the post, which is kind of useless when you’re trying to display a photo gallery.

So can this plugin do what I’m looking for and if so, what is the correct setting?

  • I am also seeking a similar solution. Is there an option to hide the post content for the specified supersized page without using display:none in the CSS?

    same problem here too.. wtf??

No, you should be able to find out with the demo and the descriptions.
This is only for a static background or a background slideshow.

Not for a full screen gallery popup, like NextGen with lightbox or similar. I use this supersized plugin with NextGen though, you can set supersized to show pictures from a NextGen gallery, which is really handy…

Search for gallery slideshow in the plugins section and you should be able to find something that suits your needs.

You can however set NextGen itself to show a slideshow. Check out: http://nextgen-gallery.com/slideshow/

Google is your friend, mate! Good luck

I know a guy who used the Supersized plugin (but he’s not using WordPress), and when you click on the album link it opens in a full screen slideshow.. http://withoutbaggage.com/photographs/

why does his do it if the wp plugin version of it doesn’t??

He just set up a page without any content. Only the supersized plugin is shown. That’s all. I do it on my website homepage too…

But it’s still a ‘background plugin’, right?

I assume that means he wants a popup style slideshow…

I’m pretty sure the website I linked is just straight up php/css with no CMS .. but NextGen requires you to create tons of galleries first.. when I do it, you can see what happens: Photos/

I don’t get it, the question was not if it’s in WordPress or plain php/css website with no CMS?

    TS had a different question.

    dear videosc,
did you ever figure this out? i’ve been looking for exactly the same thing for over 2 weeks now with no luck!

    thanks.
