• It’s rather distressing to see that the Forum here does not obfuscate all instances of a public email address on the “About user” page — and the Preferences edit facility doesn’t allow me to obfuscate it myself. I believe research has shown that spam screen scraper’s are real but also that trivial obfuscation is amazingly effective.
Can such a change be made?

  • You could do as I did, and enter something like ‘look@mysite.org’
A change could be good though.

Thanks. That’s a good suggestion. It does defeat the purpose a bit, but is an adequate workaround.

Could you just select to not show public email. There is an option.

I am curious as to how you define “obfuscate” as you can surely make your e-mail address such that it will confuse the nonhuman or just not display it altogether.

WP itself already does this under the covers, I believe. I know they’re obscured in RSS feeds, as people have brought that up.
The SHOULD REALLY be obscured in this forum… That should be easy coding. 😉
