BuddyPress Default Theme Not Working

    I am trying to use the buddypress default theme 1.5.5 and it is not showing up correctly. The picture of the theme looks one way and when I activated it, it looks another way. When I originally updated it the links were vertical now horizontal, when I upload the header it appears double. What can I do to correct this?
