My WP332 post edit page collapses to half size leaving me with an unusable post edit area. Moves from right margin.
I have tried disabling all plugins but no change.
I have other websites/blogs that do not have this problem.

  • Have you tried dragging it back open? Grab the bottom right corner.

    Thanks for your response.
There is no means of dragging the bottom corner (or anywhere).
It is like a page collapse as I can see the various element above or below others.
    I also notice that:
    Updates options have vanished
Screen options tag does not open.

So I have a seriously dented WP with no obvious option to update/reload it.

Does anyone have any other ideas please

    — and to add to the misery, google has re-flagged the site!!!

I cannot edit text, cannot reload WP, cannot use the site…

Well, after updating the analytics code (site recently re-located), google says just one blog has a bug – BUT when I went to remove it I got message “unable to move to trash”
Sigh or scream… Hair loss moments. Looks like I might need to dig into the dbase – any other ideas, folks???

Google has flagged the site as what?

Having Malware. I had removed the blog listed (listing dated April 2012) and have since relocated the site on a different ISP.

Have just requested a fresh check by googlebot. Apparently there is a robot.txt file needed – uummm

In the meantime, I have really odd problems. The page collapse can be stalled by hitting the esc button.

I have disabled two plugins to see if that will help (went to site and renamed them – cheap and dirty fix…)
    Still – no change.
    Any ideas??

    Having Malware.

Ok. You should have led with that. Your problem is that you have malware on the site. Your other problems are secondary.

Well I had the site checked after I had tried to sort the problem out and the verdic was the site was clean. Maybe they were wrong and cpanel virus scanners do not pick these bits up (checked scan today.)

If there is still a problem with malware I am completely out of my depth.
I have to run and catch a train now – will be back online in about 5 hours.

I’m not sure how good the cPanel scans are, but your site is broken enough, and based on your description seem to be getting more broken rapidly, that you should probably follow the “I’ve been hacked” procedures anyway, and replace most everything with clean files.

OK, this problem has been around for a while (malware) and I followed the google webmastertools recommendations including registering with the group recommended by google.
In the end they felt the site was OK, but it sure does not look like it is.
I guess the dbase is infected and that means all the posts. Very sad.
I have checked the .htaccess file in the public html folder and it looks very normal.
If this is a dirty bit of code in the wordpress files then perhaps I could backup the dbase, clear the site, then reload a fresh install of wp332, and upload the dbase. If the problem recurs it will prove the dbase is corrupted.
In the meantime I will hunt through the php files following the suggestions from your provided link.
I don’t want to get mad, just get even…

    OK, update.
The dirty little bit of code has been uncovered – thanks to my ISP.
It was in the wp-config.php file.
So the site was restored, the code (that came with the site when I moved it) was removed from the file, site backed up, salt changed in wp-config, and password to blog changed.

Even google likes the site, now.

    Much relief, some hair remaining.

Thanks @s_ha_dum (was apljdi)for being constructive and providing guidance.

Glad you got it fixed. 🙂
