    Hi,

I’m moving a blog from one server to another. I’ve looked at the instructions on the codex and at http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/ (and also searched the forum) but can’t figure out what’s going wrong. Can anyone help me figure out what it is?

I’ve moved the core WordPress files across okay as instructed, and have used PHPMyAdmin to move the database files, but when I visit the new site it tells me:

“It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.”

If I run install.php it seems to do the default WP installation and my own content isn’t there when I visit the site.

How can I make my blog use the database files that I installed using PHPMyAdmin? Obviously I’m doing something wrong, but I’m pretty new to this. Can anyone please help?

Okay – 30 mins later and I’ve figured this out. For anyone else who comes across the same problem, here’s what I did wrong:

When updating wp-config.php with my new database settings, I also changed the table prefix (at the time it seemed logical to make it correspond with the name I’d given to my new database). DO NOT change the table prefix! As soon as I changed it back to the original, everything worked fine. Seems obvious in retrospect.
