[Plugin: The Events Calendar] Calendar navigation appearing in a block above page title
-
I just installed The Events calendar 2.0.6. The navigation for the calendar (previous and next month, and date selector) appear stacked on top of each other and right over the Page Title. The css for it has it set to
position: absolute; left: 0; bottom: 0;
. Am I supposed to change this or should it be inline by default?

Hey there werdplae. Thanks for the note here, and sorry to hear you’re having issues. Do you have a link to a site where we can check this out? I can get a member of our dev team to try and point you in the right direction from there…
Thanks in advance!

I had to hardcode some css for positioning but it doesn’t look pretty. I commented it out so that it can “break” again. I really hope you guys can help. Other than that, this plugin rocks!
Hi werdplae,
This should work out of the box but for some reason it’s not… Something specific to your theme. Unfortunately I cannot offer up a solution here. You’ll need to play around with the CSS to get it looking good in your theme. Shouldn’t be too hard though. You can add custom CSS to your themes style.css, the plugins CSS located in /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/resources/events.css (make a copy and place in an ‘events’ folder in your theme). You can also modify the plugins views templates, particularly the gridview.php file located in /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views to adjust some of the markup used for those controls if that helps.
Good luck!

I am having the same problem. Can anyone translate in layman’s terms please? Is anyone using the Modernize theme?
I can’t figure out what that calendar navigation block/section is called so I can add it to my style.css. I tried adding the following to see if that would move the navigation down, but only the prev month moved a little down regardless of how large I made the margin height
.tribe-events-month-nav:
margin-top: 60px;
}I need the calendar navigation to be UNDER the “Calendar of Events” title and listed horizontally. Right now it is vertical over the title.
Has anyone gotten this to work? I just need a hint as to where to increase padding or margin to move it down and make it horizontal. I am on my second hour on this and would REALLY like to fix it because I want to use this calendar 🙂 (I would hate to have to uninstall it because of this minor tweak!)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@deltagirl, this is the code i had to use, positioning each element individually, compensating for the biggest word that would appear in the calendar. It isn’t pretty, I wish it was a bit more dynamic but it is what it is.
/* calendar styles ------------------------------*/ .tribe-events-month-nav { top: 21px !important; } select#tribe-events-events-month { position: relative; top: -24px; left: 155px; } select#tribe-events-events-year { position: relative; top: -44px; left: 260px; } span.tribe-events-next-month { position: relative; top: -66px; left: 320px; }
You may or may not have to adjust it. I have a multi-language site and I haven’t how it looks in Spanish. I hope this helps. And I hope even more that there is a fix for this down the road.
Question, @deltagirl, what theme are you using? I wonder if it is specific to a theme or something else like a plugin conflict.
Hi, thanks for your reply! I am using the WordPress theme called Modernize.
I assume I just add your CSS code to my theme’s CSS right?
I will try this out and see what happens. Thanks!Awesome! Thank you very much! I scrolled down to the bottom of my style.css and placed comments, then pasted your code.
Then I tweaked the “top” and “left” px for each item little by little until the alignment of the navigation fits perfectly under the Calendar title.
Thank you very much for that code, that is EXACTLY what I needed help with!
Hope this helps someone else too!
Great deltagirl, I’m glad it helped. I hope they fix this though, I’d like it to be neater.
Hello everybody, I am new to this but hope someone has some insight on my calendar plugin. I have the ajax event calendar and I can not get the 30th of June events to save to my calendar. Every other event is just fine. I am using the 3.3.2 wp version and 1.0.2 event calendar by Eran Miller
Thanks for the assist on helping deltagirl out, werdplae. We do have plans for generally smoother integration with a variety of themes given some template changes we’ve got in the works for 2.1. No guarantees but I think that will help you out a lot.
Jeff: I can totally help you out here, but would you mind opening this as a separate thread (so we have it tracked independently and separate from this other discussion, which best I can tell is unrelated)? Thanks in advance!
I would definitely like to be included on any updates for this events plugin. Although I corrected the dropdown menus and the calendar title overlapping, there is still a difference between IE and any other browser. The dropdown menus overlap (but still works) in all browsers except IE. Looks weird, but I can live with it for now. 🙂
Thanks!
Hi there deltagirl. Thanks for confirming as much; what version of IE you’re running would determine this (we generally don’t support earlier than IE8 in our testing), but I also think the template changes in 2.1 will assist with this. If you watch for future update prompts on the backend of your site they will alert you as new releases become available and I’d be interested to hear if you’re still having problems from there once updating.
Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more. Let me know whether you have any other questions.
