I am trying to activate Akismet & it says my API key should appear on my profile, but there is nothing on my profile page that references my API key whatsoever. Help!

    You should read more carefully!
Try it again: it says the API key should be in your profile IF you register to http://wordpress.com !
This is .ORG. Go to .COM, please!

Ok, excuse my ignorance, but wtf? I have a wordpress blog and I have a dashboard from which I manage it, so why would I need to register separately at wordpress.COM?

Because they want you to register somewhere before handing out keys that give access to their services? You can sign up without getting a blog, just select the "just a username, please" option

"so why would I need to register separately at wordpress.COM?"

Because that's the only way to get it.

I have a wordpress hosted blog utbtkids.wordpress.com and two other blogs, http://www.desibioscope.net and http://www.utbtkids.com.

I use the API key from my WP hosted blog for utbtkids.com for Akismet spam protection and for stats, it works beautifully.

When I tried using the key for http://www.desibioscope.net, for stats, it does not accept the key.

    Any suggestions?
