Hey Fadhill.
Assuming you’re using an existing theme, it’s pretty simple. Just go to Settings > Reading. Then change “Front page displays” to a static page. Choose your home page for the front page, and choose your news page for the posts page.
Hope that helps. 🙂
hello carbis! thank you for the reply, sorry what do you mean by existing theme? becouse the theme am using is not a word press theme, and i have applied what you said but when i view the news page, the content desplayed are for the home page.
Hi Fadhill,
Sorry I’m not 100% sure what you mean. Is your WordPress theme a custom built theme, or a theme that someone else made that you’re using. If it’s not custom, what is the name of the theme?
If it is custom, you may have a problem with the files in your theme. You will need to make sure you have a template file to handle the news page. See this chart for reference:

If you’re still stuck, you may need to get someone to look at your theme files to help you out. This forum isn’t used for paid help – but I’m happy to point you in the right direction if you contact me directly.[email address removed]
Since you’ve developed a custom Theme, this isn’t a question that we can answer without seeing your custom Theme code.
Please post relevant Theme template files to a Pastebin, and link to them here in the thread.
carbis what is the name of the theme?
The name of the theme is “health”. what i did is that i installed wordpress via the server, created the folder called “health” inside wp-cotent/themes and converted my index ,css, and my websitehtml pages into php pages and created the hearder and the footer, and then i called those pages into wordpress pages option, and finally used the ids of pages to desplay them on my navigation pannel.i tried to do all this beacouse the website was already on host server(justhost)and i created it from notepad. (sory for the long details)

Unfortunately, building a functional WordPress theme isn’t as simple as renaming your old website. Here’s a few links that might help you understand how to get started building your theme:

hi guys!
carbis,
i had already checked those links and there is where i got the ideas of creating the header , the footer. and i have been trying to refer to them again. right now this is where am stack, before placing my web pages into wordpress they had content already, so i placed them as they are with content. and it worked the pages desplayed well, and i had not used the page.php page.I know this might have been a wrong move to make! .
what i dont know is if i remove the pages and start all over using the page.php, am i suppose to place the loop that is inside the page.php in my webpages before placing my content so that those pages may be editable later on? and if thats the case how do i restore my content?
