seo smart links issue

Hi all, i am using seo smart links plugin for internal links wanted to change the keyword anchor text linking pages,
so i changed it to another keyword however it will not delete the old anchor text keyword so now i have two.
I then played with the features to ignore certain words other keyword but it still links. i then uninstalled plugin and deleted files and it is still linking am i missing something.
Additionally also using w3 total cache cleared it then uninstalled it but still have problem, any help greatly appreciated
