1. Does WordPress work well on PHP 5?
Of course! PHP5 is non-beta, so WordPress developers have made sure to eliminate any things that would not work in PHP5 (I’m not sure if there were even any to begin with).
2. Would the move affect my installation, since I installed it using PHP 4.
Not at all, nor would upgrading your MySQL version. I did both on my local test machine and none of my multiple WordPress installs encountered any issues.
Thanks! And also thanks for the quick reply!
Hey, I just found out that my host has a server with both PHP 5 and MySQL 5. Would moving to that server effect my installation? Would I need to do any upgrade procedures? Thanks!
PS: I made a new topic about it (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/80100), it doesnt matter which one you reply in. Thx.
Hi, All,
I’m looking at installing WordPress 2.2 RC2. It is apparently optimized for PHP 5. Problem is, on my host a file with the extension “php” runs on PHP 4. To run PHP5 I need to use the extension “php5” (or to use PHP 3 I use the extension “php3”).
So, would i need to rename all references in all the files to include “somefile.php” to “somefile.php5”? Has someone already created a version that uses the “php5” extension in file names and within the files?
Don’t know how many people this affects. I have my blog on 1and1.com.
Thanks!
Warmly,
Don 🙂
