• Akismet is a fantastic tool that has saved me lots of comment spam. But just recently, i.e., in the last few days, it’s been marking as spam comments from people who’ve been commenting on my blog for years.

It would be nice if there was a way to mark a particular commenter as safe — so their comments are always approved.

First thing to double check is that Akismet was the item that marked the comment as spam. You can do that by looking at the history section of the comment.

If you have other plugins that are interacting with comments try disabling them to see if the problem stops.

Next is to make sure the comments are being marked as ‘Not Spam’. That sends information back Akismet to learn from it.

Finally, if after all that the problem continues, after marking the comment as ‘Not Spam’ send the details to support@akismet.com and we’ll take a closer look at what is going on.
