Link categories

Call to WordPress developers:
I just downloaded the latest SVN and instead of seeing the link feature upgraded to include subcategories, like i wished, I saw that it was downgraded and doesn’t allow categories. PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS! I realize this was done to make life easier for simple blog users, but at the same time chokes the extensibility of wordpress, which the pros stretch into more than just a blog.
