I’ve got a custom metabox where a user can enter a URL, and then that link is applied to an image. So essentially, someone can determine where to go once the image is clicked. The problem is unless you enter http:// in the metabox before typing the url, WordPress appends this onto the blog directory, which ends up going to a 404. I can hardcode the “http://” however if a link is entered also using http:// then the link will basically end up having 2 “http://” and won’t work. Is there any way to force wordpress to respect an external link?
