An Unexpected HTTP Error occurred during the API request.

when trying to search for a plugin from inside wordpress. or

An error occurred while updating Any Plugin: Download failed. Couldn’t resolve host ‘downloads.wordpress.org’.

when i activate the simple portfolio plugin. when i deactivate it everything goes smooth.

  • I have a similar problem while the plugin is activated. Whenever I search for a new plugin I get the wonderfully vague “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. Try again.”

Once it’s deactivated, search works just fine.

The fact that alhoseany says he gets a “couldn’t resolve host downloads.wordpress.org” error makes me wonder if there’s a connection to my dashboard feeds spitting out this error too: “RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘wordpress.org'”. (Although those errors still remain when the plugin is deactivated.)
