    Hi,

I just tried but could not login to my site’s wp admin backend. I keep getting redirected to a 404 not found error page. Even when I tried the wp-login.php extension and finally got to see the login page, I still could not login (kept getting redirected to a 404 page) to the dashboard.

I’m not sure where to start from and thought to request your help too as I’d need all the advice I can get.

  • Hi,

I got the same problem, excepted that I’m not redirected to a 404 different page

I’d start by disabling all your plugins manually.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

@levelsevenltd: What is your site’s url?
Have you moved WordPress at any time since it was installed?
Can you access your WordPress root .htaccess file?

    hello @esmi,

    still need help here!

Make sure all of your folders permissions in FTP are set to 755, and the folder contents are set to 644. Check your .htaccess file and wp-config.php file to make sure no extra code has been added.

    Try logging in here, http://www.itslng.com/wp-login.php

Sorry reread and see you have tried that.

hi all… its been resolved. my client later called to say they had some kind of security feature installed by their web host which kicked in when a staff member tried to login unsuccessfully a couple of times. All login activity for the domain (I guess) was suspended until my client called it in and assured the host it wasn’t a hacking attempt or smth like that. The suspension affected al kinds of login authentication site-wide and after lifting it, wp login resumed working normally again.

Thanks guys for all your help & concern.
