[Plugin: Events Manager] EM_Event Object's event_start_date property wrong date format

Noticed today that whenever I retrieve an EM_Event object the property, event_start_date, is formatted as non-American.
I do have my WPLANG set correctly along with my WordPress install for en_US / New York.
Is this by design?
