• I often setup a site for new accounts but find transferring the admin/ownership a bit frustrating, as you get the “There is a pending change of the admin e-mail to …” until the new site owner accepts the invitation.

New site owners have an aversion to clicking things, and sometimes it is difficult to track the dears down to get them to jfdi!

Is there a way for me to by-pass this process, i.e. so no verification is required. I thought changing it in the multi site settings screen would do this, but it seems to fire the verification process all the same (too clever).

Or is this a feature request?

If you’re changing the email to something that doesn’t exist (i.e. a non-user’s email), I can see that being a problem.

Which screen are you using? Network Admin -> Sites -> Edit Site -> Settings?

    Yes, in this case /wp-admin/network/site-users.php?id=84

Invalid email address isn’t the problem, as you can cancel the process.

The problem seems to be that some users just won’t click the link however many times you ask them to. (** Interlude: http://dontclick.it/ **) Why they wouldn’t is exactly obvious but is a bit of a problem (ends up in spam, diffident about clicking links in emails, the message perhaps isn’t clear, or they are reluctant to take FULL responsibility for their lovely new site … )

I could just try changing it in the db, but wondered if there was a straightforward workaround. You know like we can setup users without the email verification …

    Thanks.

    Try /wp-admin/network/site-settings.php?id=84 instead.

    SETTINGS, not users 🙂

Oops that is the link I meant to copy, so even replacing the admin email here seems to fire the verification email process just as it does on the standard site settings page.

    o.O

Wow. There must be a check on the page then.
