[Plugin – Syntex highlighter evolved ] bug in html code rendering

I am just working with my new wordpress blog
installed http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/syntaxhighlighter/
now the remaining codes are showing properly ( ie CSS ) But when i try to add a html code as per wordpress advice http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/
whole of the code jussed messed up , unable to recognize < and >
Please help
