I am freaking out! Please somebody tell me I haven’t lost all my work! I know how to fix it, I just need to remove that HTML from the template, but how can I login if I keep getting this error??
Replace the functions.php file using ftp.

I have an FTP account thru CPanel, but like I said. I’m new to creating websites, don’t know much. How do I do it?
You need to get your ftp address, username, and password from CPanel.
You’ll also need an unedited version of functions.php. You can get that here… http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/matala.
Download the theme and unzip the file. Then log in to your ftp server and replace your functions.php file with the downloaded one.
OK… bear with me.
I got my username and pass word. I was trying to follow the below instructions HOWEVER I am stuck. When I open the file (step 3) a blank browser shows up. I don’t know what to do.
Click the Configure FTP Client link that corresponds to the FTP account you wish to use to connect to your FTP server.
Step Two
Click the FTP or SFTP link to download the XML file. We recommend that you use SFTP whenever possible, as it is generally more secure than FTP. Note: This step will over-write any previous XML configuration file without warning.
Step Three
Open your FileZilla FTP client.
Step Four
Select the Import option from the File menu (File ⇀ Import).
I figured out how to get to where it says import. But then it says import- cookies, feeds, or favorites. I tried all 3 and none of them work.
This is why CPanel and other panels suck. They just add another dimension of complexity to the administration process. SSL or at least SFTP access is worth its weight in gold. KIS!
Ok… I have now manages to get into the Ftp File manager. I have tried to connect to my website about a million times and so far it won’t connect. Pleasssssssssssse help!
Last post isn’t clear. Were you able to upload a working php file to overwrite the one you broke, yet? That’s what you still need to do.
