Chat Lite Plug-in Drags an ever-so-slow BuddyPress to a Screeching Halt

    We installed Chat Lite on our BuddyPress site. We began to notice BP performance to go down — slowing even moreso than BP does normally. We ran a chat pilot yesterday with 10 BP Member’s.

    • It took, on average, anywhere from 30-90 seconds for a chat message to appear on everyone’s screen.
    • Chat messages were appearing up to 9-10 times in the viewport.

    We don’t recommend Chat Lite in its present form.

    Installing any Chat is going to slow your server, perhaps you should contact your host to see about upgrading?

    I believe that there will be a new version out soon though, hope you will give it another try!

    A hosted chat like WP Chatblazer shouldn’t slow down your server.
