How do I put only the most recent post on the home page …

    … and still have a separate blog page.

    Atahualpa theme

    I’ve searched the Codex and Forums for this and found a few threads, but none appear to work for me.

    In WP Settings > Reading I have ‘front’ page set to a page I made called Home. And ‘posts’ page is set to my page called Blog

    But I want to have the Home page also show *only* the most recent post. Perhaps with a heading such as “Latest Post:

    Is there perhaps a plugin I can use which will let me use a shortcode on the Home page and pull in the most recent post.

    Go to Setting –> Reading –> set the page displays to “Your latest posts”.

    I was a Joomla users; two weeks ago, I start trying WordPress and it has been a great experience. I tried more templates and so far the atahualpa is the best since I can have many different settings. I don’t know anything about CSS coding.
