  • I have a very very large wordpress site (hundreds of thousands of posts). Everything works fine except for the home page takes about 30 seconds to load. I have written the homepage in the themes index.php.

The problem is that in wordpress settings the homepage is loading the recent posts and so is searching through the whole database. If I select static homepage, I have to specify the page (I don’t have one as it is hard coded into index.php).

Anyone have any suggestions or know where the static home page information is stored in the database.

    Thanks in advance.

  • What’s loading your recent posts, and how many is it loading?! If it’s only loading ten that shouldn’t be causing any issues. The best way to create your page would be to make a new page, Home, set that as your home page from Settings > Reading and placing all the code you put in index.php for your homepage in to a new page template.
