    Hello guys,

Is there a reason why the Image Widget isn’t added to the default WordPress Widgets for the Self Hosted version? (3.4 Beta2)

I mean I’ve tested wp.com a few times and found a very Very easy to use Image Widget at the default Widget screen. totally loved it!

Will it ever happen in the future that this Image Widget will be added to the default Widget family in the Self Hosted version because at this time people have to work with the HTML Widget and learn how to add an image in HTML code.

    <img src="..." alt="..." /> + <a href="...."> ... </a>

    Thanks,

There has never been an Image Widget in WordPress core.

    Thanks for the reply,

In the wp.COM version there is!

I believe this should be build into the core of WP. (Self Hosted) version for sure its so easy to use. Probably the same ‘easy to use’ level as the Custom Menu Widget.

    It’s this plugin i guess.

There are a lot of things available on hosted wordpress.com sites that are not part of WordPress core – primarily because wordpress.com users cannot install their own plugins. Those who are hosting their own sites can just install that plugin if they want it (and bear in mind that not everyone does).

Good idea Jaja! There really should be an image widget among the various other widgets to choose from.

Or perhaps a help page built into the Widget section that gives advice on how to add most common code into the text/html widget.

    There’s one in Jetpack.
