how to add author name different than user who post

    Hi
    I am a newbie and I am using WP for the first time.
    I need to add many articles to different authors. I want to have a specific field for the author name in the posting area and the name should appear when the post is published.

    I tried to add custom profile field but I could not show it on the article for readers.

    I am using this theme

    If you have a small amount of authors I would suggest creating a user for each author, from their you can easily assign many articles to different authors using wordpress’s inbuilt author field.

    Then you can easily display the author on the site – http://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Templates

    unfortunately I have 200+ authors.

    the current theme already displays the author’s name which is in my case the user who adds the post.
