Are you saying that there is no ‘Featured Image’ checkbox in the ‘Screen Options’? Did you pull down the ‘Screen Options’ while editing a Post?
Correct – it does not appear as an option in the “Screen Options” area at the top of the page. WordPress version is 3.3.1
OK – hate to be redundant, but were you editing a post or page when you looked?
If so, you might try switching to one of the WP-supplied themes to rule out a theme problem.
If it is not a theme problem, try reinstalling WP by going to Dashboard->Updates and clicking ‘Reinstall Now’.
If that fails, it may be a plugin problem. Try disabling all plugins.

Yes, it’s a theme problem — changed themes and it popped up there in the right-hand widgets. Think there’s a line of code somewhere we could add to css or functions to make it work?
Your theme probably does not support Post Thumbnails. You need to add some code to your functions.php as explained here:

Thanks – was hoping this would do the trick but no dice. I added the code to the functions.php but it still doesn’t appear.
I tried to locate the theme to download it to my test site but had no luck. Since I can’t see the code, I am afraid that I don’t have any further suggestions.
