OK all I just had to reinstall my WordPress.org

    for MAC.
as i ran into problems with it before

so i was in my htdoc files in Applications and deleted all old wordpress files so i can reinstall

so i have MAMP on my Mac and its running

so i went through steps to download wordpress again for my MAC
then moved all files of wordpress from file to Mamp file in applications and into HTDOC where it is supposed to be
and then configure on start page of Mamp etc
so when i go to type in my page

    http://localhost:8888/wordpress-5/

    i get file not found
    what am i doing wrong?

    someone help me

as i had this running fine before
but now it does not work

    hi,

try using /wordpress/ instead of /wordpress-5/

    do not type localhost:8888

in your browser, just type in localhost and then / and then the folder name.

    @krashkartmedia,
why wouldn’t him type the 8888 port, if he doen’t mention having changed the default MAMP ports?

for 10.6 or higher the default is usually set already. plus, it makes life easier having the default ports set.
