When I did my first install, the max upload size for the domain was too low and it was recommended that I simply did an FTP upload to the plugins folder. So, I uploaded the unzipped folder.

I think that might’ve messed up the install because when I added a new event it wasn’t displaying it and I was getting a number of “establishing a database connection” errors.

Now, we upped the max upload file size and I deleted the plugin so we can re-install it the proper way, but it’s still giving me the same issues. It seems it’s not completely deleting everything on our servers, because it still shows there are events published and it in the trash (just gives a little number next to the links in the events list section, but it doesn’t actually list them – says there are no events to display).

Is there something I’m missing when I try to remove the plugin from our servers so we can do a clean re-install?

Hey Stacy. Thanks for reaching out here and sorry that you’re having issues. This is an interesting situation – though it does sound like something has gone wrong, either with the installation or with regards to your hosting setup. If you can positively rule out the latter we’ll go forward assuming its the former.

First suggestion would just be to resave your permalinks, and make sure you’ve just got 2.0.5 active with no other versions of The Events Calendar. May also want to test whether it’s a conflict with another plugin or your theme, which can be tested via the deactivation route. if that doesn’t yield anything, I would suggest deleting the plugin entirely off your server through the FTP client. And then, with a little plugin like Option Editor (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/option-editor/) clear out all of the “tribe_events_calendar_options”. Reinstalling from there ought to clear things up. But let us know if it doesn’t.

Thank you very much for your reply… I’m checking now to see if the host has any kind of setup issues. Would it possible that the install is trying to create a database and the host is preventing the plugin from creating one?

I downloaded Option Editor and I don’t see any place where I can simply delete all tribe_events_calendar options. I see 3 listings on the list and I can edit its contents, but it doesn’t give me the option to simply delete all instances of it. Am I missing something?

Again, thank you very much for working with me on this. I really love your plugin and it’s working great on my other domains (hosted with us – the domain giving us an issue is hosted somewhere else). Thanks.

Hey again Stacy. Any response from the host along these lines? It’s certainly possible that the database creation could be limited depending on your setup..

Once option editor is activated, you’d need to go to Plugins -> Option Editor and select tribe_events_calendar from the dropdown. There will be a bunch of fields in there…just make them all blank/empty and save. That ought to do it.

Hope that helps. Let me know what you get from there and I’ll try to troubleshoot best I can.
