I completed a website for a restaurant about two months ago as a favor. My client hired an SEO guy to tweak the site. He did the small stuff (301 redirects, meta keywords and descriptions, sitemap). For the sitemap he put an ugly link in the top menu bar. I asked him if I could remove it or if it’s absolutely necessary insert it into the footer (a task that is getting annoying because of the CSS). Does the link for the sitemap need to be visible on the actual site? It’s only like a 6 page site so I don’t see why it’s necessary.

    Hello,

I don’t think that Sitemap url should be visible on the site. in place of showing sitemap link on first page you should use Google Xml Sitemap plugin. and ya you can add your sitemap on ( http://www.google.com/webmaster )google webmaster tool.

my website is showing good seo results and even don’t have link of sitemap on any page.

Thanks for your response! I didn’t think it was necessary to have the sitemap link visible. Now I have to think how I am going to tell either the site owner or the SEO guy that.
