I have a lot of pdfs. They’re organized into folders thusly:

    minutes

    • 2012
    • 2011
    • 2010

    reports

    • 2012
    • 2011
    • 2010

When I upload the documents to the uploads folder from the interface, they all come in at uploads/2012/03 or whatever folder I happen to be in the day I make the document, even if the document is historic and will be set to a previous date.

So list of pdfs that I started on December 12, 2011 will end up storing all pdfs for that page in uploads/2011/12 even if the document is technically a 2012 document and might be linked likewise from a different document.

If I upload the documents in the preferred folder structure above, the media/gallery interface seems to have no method for navigating to my files. If I’m not mistaken, I can’t link them if they’re already on the server by navigating to a folder.

I’d like to navigate through my uploads folder directory structure to where a linked document is – or where I’d like it to reside – and link from there. What plugins are best suited to this in WP?
