  • Hey Radmacdaddy. Thanks for the note here. Have you checked out whether you can accomplish what you’re going for through the use of template tags, as documented at http://tri.be/support/documentation ? Let me know if that doesn’t get you started and I’ll see if one of our devs can point you in the right direction.

Thanks roblagatta… I sure would love this plugin if I had the ability to do this by simply placing [event_category] in my post wherever I want. I’m not a php person and having to hire my dev to add that is a bummer.

Or, please oh please, have I missed that option somewhere?

Hey dude. Sorry about the delay; we’ve been gearing up heavily for the 2.0.5 launch and haven’t hit the forums here as actively because of it. Unfortunately given how the plugin is built we actually don’t have shortcode support at this point. That may change down the road but in the interim template tags are unfortunately the only way to go.

Sorry I couldn’t offer up more here. If you’ve got any other questions on this or if I can elaborate at all, please let me know.

So, what I really need to do is have a page that pulls in a category under a page description. So, all events tagged/cotegorized with “basic workshops” for instance can be pulled into a “basic workshops” page that includes a descriptor.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Hey Radmacdaddy. Have you checked whether you can accomplish that using template tags? If I understand what you’re going for it should be doable…

Can you give me an example, i think that is exactly what I need. Or point me where to go to get them/examples of them.
    cheers

Ditto for me! I’d like to do the same thing. Did you figure this out or find an example somewhere?

Hey Rob, still waiting on those example links… hope they’re simple for this simpleton. πŸ˜‰

Hey dude. Thanks for the follow-up; we generally only hit the OS forum here once or twice a week. I assume you’ve already checked out http://tri.be/support/documentation? That’s where all the documentation we currently have is stored. The category-specific template tags are detailed at this page: http://tri.be/support/documentation/the-events-calendar-template-tags-general-functions/.

    That help?

    Thread Starter Radmacdaddy

    (@radmacdaddy)

I still don’t see how that will help.

If I need to post any of those examples in a page, how do I do this? Do I create a template with that code? If so, that seems way much for just a listing of events for a specific category/tag, below say an introduction to the viewer of what they are about to see.

Really bummed you guys aren’t implementing [short_codes]. Your plugin would truly be an awesome and very easy to use option.

Thanks for all your help Rob.

I need this too! I run a site that organises 5 events a month at 5 different locations. When events are added they are assigned a category but I can’t see anything I can do to list all events in a particular category.

    Thread Starter Radmacdaddy

    (@radmacdaddy)

THis is a MUST have feature for this tool… it doesn’t seem it could be that tough to implement, but will quickly escalate this plugin as the one to use.

I simply need to be able to say what I need to say for various categories and have them show up below the descriptor. I’ve tried the “HTML before the event list” option in template settings, but unfortunately that puts the same thing before every list…

    (@radmacdaddy)

BTW, clarelauwerys, you can build a widget doing what you a mentioning, but in the content is the obvious must… IMHO (or not so humble πŸ˜‰ )

    (@hfzakaria)

Hey Rob, is it possible to list like all the top recent events on a static page with just their title….

    clarelauwerys

    (@clarelauwerys)

How do I build a widget to do that Radmacdaddy?
The category post one doesn’t list event categories?
