Hi!
First download your database.sql from phpmyadmin using export
Second,
* login to your file manager
* then go to public_html
* Select all and compress entire files on zip archieve
* Download the zip file
Then backup both files eg:
1. yourdatabase.sql
2. yourwebsite.zip
to a flash drive.
Thnx
Are you looking to actually have your site functional from the thumbdrive…? Or just want to backup the files and content?
@shekhar’s technique is exactly right for backing everything up. Having a functional site would be a bit more involved
Thanks…
The goal is to back up the entire site, so if it crashed, I am able to easily download the saved data from the flashdrive and restore my entire website (data plugins, whole shebang)to its original glory
I am not familiar with the additional advantages/additional efforts in having the site functional from the thumbdrive
Could you elaborate please?
Thanks, Again, Tom
There are really no advantages! I was just wondering if that’s the goal. It would be a bit of a pain really.
To just back up everything, do as @shekhar suggested
Really, you only need to save the wp-content folder using ftp, that is where themes, uploads, images, plugins live. everything else is a standard WP install, and can always be downloaded from WP again.
And, the mysql export file through phpmyadmin holds all your content
